The course is concerned with the water of the world, their occurrence, circulation and distribution. It is also concerned with the operation of engineering projects for the control and use of water. The subject matter of hydrology can be classified into three phases: data collection, methods of analysis and prediction/forecasting of future events
The course focuses on Study of hydrologic cycle and its main components such as precipitation, infiltration, surface runoff, subsurface runoff / groundwater and evapotranspiration. Collection and analysis of stream flow data. Frequency analysis, mass diagram, hydrograph analysis/ synthetic unit hydrograph, flood routing. Groundwater: Groundwater flow, confined and unconfined aquifers.
